Kurigram, Aug 31 (V7N) - Former and current students of Sharif's Hat MU High School in Chilmari Upazila, Kurigram, have leveled serious accusations against Headmaster Abdul Rouf, including financial irregularities, authoritarian behavior, recruitment manipulation, and political favoritism.

On the morning of August 31, students gathered for a protest rally at the school premises to highlight these allegations.

Protesters claimed that since Headmaster Abdul Rouf took charge, there have been ongoing issues of misconduct, corruption, and misuse of authority. They accused him of exploiting students financially under various pretenses, such as charging excessive fees for forms and ID cards. Despite collecting 200 taka per ID card three years ago, none have been issued. They also mentioned that 2,000 taka was demanded for certificates and transfer papers. Additionally, there were claims of financial manipulation in recent recruitments.

The students also alleged that during the tenure of the Awami League government, the headmaster used political influence to engage in corruption, including collecting extra fees, embezzling money through false receipts, running a coaching business, and irregularities in awarding scholarships. They criticized him for neglecting the school's educational standards and continuing his corrupt activities with impunity, aided by powerful political figures. They added that the headmaster seldom taught and would intimidate or harass those who opposed these practices using political connections.

The students demanded the immediate resignation of the headmaster, improvements in the school's educational quality, and a restoration of discipline.

In response, Headmaster Abdul Rouf dismissed the allegations as false and motivated by personal grievances, rejecting all claims of wrongdoing.
