Dhaka, Dec 31 (V7N) –Environment Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan has announced that a new law is being formulated to protect trees, which will include special provisions against using nails for putting up advertisements.

She made the announcement while inaugurating a tree protection campaign by removing nails from trees on the road adjacent to the south gate of the Abahani Club Field in the capital on Tuesday.

The adviser emphasized the need for public cooperation to stop this harmful practice, adding that once the law is enacted, violators will face penalties.

Rizwana said trees supply oxygen to the environment and driving nails into them disrupts their growth, ultimately leading to their death.

She also urged everyone to refrain from using fireworks and firecrackers that cause noise and air pollution on New Year’s Eve.

The adviser added that mobile courts under the Ministry of Environment will operate to protect public health and biodiversity.
