DHAKA, May 18, (V7N) – The NBR Reform Unity Council announced on Sunday that they will proceed with their planned six-hour pen-down strike on Monday. This action is intended to intensify pressure for sustainable and inclusive reforms within the National Board of Revenue (NBR).

The Council communicated their decision through an official statement issued on Sunday.

The protesters indicated that they had learned through media reports about a scheduled meeting between Finance Adviser Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed and NBR officials on Tuesday to discuss NBR reform issues.

However, citing the absence of any official proposal or confirmation regarding this meeting, the Council declared their intention to enforce the six-hour pen-down strike from 9 am to 3 pm on Monday.

The key demands of the NBR Reform Unity Council include:

The immediate withdrawal of the proposed Revenue Ordinance.
The public disclosure of the NBR Reform Advisory Committee’s report.
A comprehensive reform of the revenue system achieved through meaningful consultations with relevant stakeholders, including NBR officials, business associations, civil society members, and political leaders.
