DHAKA, May 24, (V7N) – The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) today approved nine projects with an estimated total cost of Taka 11,851.29 crore.

The approval came from the 11th ECNEC meeting of the current fiscal year (FY25), presided over by ECNEC Chairperson and Chief Adviser Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus at the NEC Conference Room in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar.

Of the nine approved projects, six are new initiatives, while three are revised projects. Funding for these projects will primarily come from the government of Bangladesh, contributing Taka 8,046.09 crore. An additional Taka 2,988.95 crore will be sourced as project assistance, with the remaining Taka 816.25 crore supplied from the concerned organizations' own funds, according to a Planning Ministry press release.

The approved projects include:

Construction of academic buildings for eight government polytechnic institutes: Taka 451.07 crore
Enhancing capacity of 15 government polytechnic institutes: Taka 1,513.95 crore
Development of selected private colleges for improvement in education through ICT (3rd revised): Taka 184.46 crore (reduced cost)
Mosque-based children and mass education programme to improve moral ethics and religious values (8th phase): Taka 4,645.58 crore
Recovery and Advancement of Informal Sector Employment (RAISE): Reintegration of returning migrants (1st revised): Taka 91 crore (additional cost)
GRID Power Evacuation System Development for West Zone Power Distribution Company Limited: Taka 539.71 crore
Power Transmission Strengthening and Integration of Renewable Energy: Taka 4,131.42 crore
Urban Climate Resilient Infrastructure Project (UCRIP): Taka 590.42 crore
PRABRIDDHI (Local Economic Development) (1st revised): Taka 72.60 crore (additional cost)
Additionally, the ECNEC meeting was informed about four other projects that had received prior approval from the Planning Adviser.

Relevant advisers attended the meeting, alongside Planning Commission members and concerned secretaries.
