Dhaka, Sept 9 (V7N) – Tarikul Shibly, 40, a journalist reporting for Channel S, passed away Tuesday afternoon while covering the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) election.

According to colleagues, Tarikul became unwell after reporting live from Karjon Hall and traveling to another location by car. He was rushed by fellow journalist Shafiq Ahmed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead around 1:30 p.m. Medical staff cited heatstroke as the likely cause of death.

Shafiq Ahmed stated that Tarikul had been actively reporting the election process throughout the day. “After completing a live report in front of Karjon Hall, he got into a car to cover another polling center and suddenly fell ill,” he said.

University officials and fellow journalists expressed condolences, noting the intense demands and long hours involved in election coverage. The incident underscores the physical strain faced by reporters during high-profile events such as the DUCSU elections.
