Dhaka, Oct 11 (V7N) – Renowned human rights activist and photographer Dr. Shahidul Alam has returned to Bangladesh after being released from an Israeli prison. Upon arrival, he expressed gratitude to the people of Bangladesh and the government, while urging the international community to continue the fight until Palestine is liberated.

Dr. Alam landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 4:55 a.m. on Saturday (October 11). Speaking to reporters, he said, “Gaza is not liberated yet. The attack is still going on there. Our work is not finished. What happened to us is nothing compared to the torture being inflicted on the people of Gaza.”

Earlier, Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus expressed his sincere gratitude to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for his vital role in facilitating Shahidul Alam’s release and safe return.

Following Alam’s detention by Israeli forces, the Office of the Chief Adviser had directed Bangladesh’s embassies in Jordan, Egypt, and Turkey to contact the respective foreign ministries and take urgent diplomatic measures to ensure his freedom.

Dr. Shahidul Alam was detained early Wednesday along with journalists, health workers, and crew members of the ‘Conscience’ ship — part of the Freedom Flotilla Coalition — which was seized by Israeli occupation forces while en route to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza.
