Dhaka, Feb 12, (V7N) – Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus today described the ongoing general election and referendum as a historic opportunity to build a “new Bangladesh,” calling the day one of the nation’s greatest joys and a moment of liberation.

Speaking after casting his ballot at Gulshan Model School and College, Yunus said, “Through the process that began today we have completely boycotted the past. We got an opportunity at every step to build a new Bangladesh. Let’s celebrate the birthday of Bangladesh today.”

He stressed that both the parliamentary vote and the referendum were equally important, urging citizens to participate fully. Yunus said the day marked “immense happiness” for him personally and “great joy” for the people, noting that voters were treating the election like a national festival, “celebrating the day like an Eid.”
