DHAKA, Feb 12 (V7N): In a landslide win after counting concluded at all 149 polling centers, BNP's Paddy Sheaf candidate Lutfuz Zaman Babar clinched victory, defeating his nearest rival by 121,042 votes.
According to final Election Commission results, Babar received 160,224 votes, while Jamaat-e-Islami's Al Helal Talukder of the Scale symbol polled 39,308 votes.
Babar triumphed over his closest contender Al Helal Talukder with a massive gap of 121,042 votes. Returning to his home turf after 17 long years, Babar proved his enduring popularity in his first election contest here. Locals view this big win as a "reflection of the people's love."
