FEB 12 (V7N) - According to available information, BNP candidates have won four constituencies in Netrokona district in the 13th national parliamentary election. Barrister Kaiser Kamal won in Netrokona-1, Dr. Anwarul Haque in Netrokona-2, Dr. Rafiqul Islam Hilali in Netrokona-3, and Lutfuzzaman Babar in Netrokona-4.

In Netrokona-5, Jamaat-e-Islami’s Masum Mostafa emerged victorious.

This year, elections were held in 299 constituencies after polling in Sherpur-3 (Jhenaigati-Sreebardi) was suspended. A total of 2,029 candidates contested, including 1,755 from political parties and 274 independents. Among them were 83 women candidates — 63 representing parties and 20 independents.

The voter roll listed 127,711,793 eligible voters nationwide, comprising 64,825,361 men, 62,885,200 women, and 1,232 third-gender voters. Postal ballots were dispatched to 124 countries for expatriate voters.
