Prime Minister honoured Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the father of the nation in Dhanmondi by laying wreaths at his portrait in front of Bangabandhu Bhaban in the capital.
A day after taking the oath of office to form the government for the fourth time in a row and the fifth time overall, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina honoured the Liberation War dead on Friday January 12.
Around eleven in the morning, Hasina, the prime minister, first laid a wreath at the altar of the National Memorial in Savar, which is located outside of the capital.
Beside his newly appointed cabinet colleagues, the prime minister additionally laid a second wreath at the National Memorial's altar.
Following the wreath-laying ceremony, they observed a period of mournful silence in remembrance of the martyrs who gave their lives to save Bangladesh's freedom.

The last post was played by a bugle, and a state salute was given by a well-groomed detachment representing the three services.
Sheikh Hasina then signed the guest book that was maintained on the grounds of the National Memorial.
Sheikh Rehana, the PM's younger sister, was also present.

Four days after the Awami League won 222 out of 298 parliamentary seats in a landslide in the 12th parliamentary election on 7 January, Hasina took office as prime minister for a fifth term.
At 7:06 p.m. on Thursday, at Bangabhaban's Durbar Hall, President Mohammed Shahabuddin gave Sheikh Hasina and her new ministers the oath of office and the oath of secrecy.
11 state ministers and 25 ministers made up her council of ministers.
