"To demand that the dummy election be canceled, we must all march in the streets together. With that objective in mind, we have begun the leaflet distribution effort:" Rizvi

Bangladesh opposition leader Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, the senior joint secretary general of the BNP, claimed on Tuesday that the Awami League government is displaying conceit after usurping power during the "dummy" election held last month.

"They (the government) are now displaying their haughtiness following the absurd dummy election that was held on January 7 and was rejected by the citizens of the nation." Additionally, he claimed, they are attempting to show off the authority they have taken over."

He made the comments before to handing out BNP pamphlets in the Fakirapool area of the city, which is a component of the party's new platform calling for the cancelation of the 12th parliamentary elections and a new election with a nonpartisan government.

The BNP leader claimed that the nation's citizens had awakened to the need for a coordinated action to topple the government.

"To demand that the dummy election be canceled, we must all march in the streets together. With that objective in mind, we have begun the leaflet distribution effort," he stated.

Regarding the recent statement made by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina that Ziaur Rahman's government saw several crackdowns on the army and the execution of many people, Rizvi stated that his party's founder pursued legal action against anyone who opposed the regime.

Yet military officers have vanished because of you, PM. General Abdullahil Amaan Azmi, the brigadier general, is where? He stated, "During the tenure of your government, he was the victim of enforced disappearance."

He added that between 1972 and 1975, the Awami League administration executed over 20,000 leaders and employees of the Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD), as well as members of other opposition groups and dissidents.

Similarly, throughout this regime's rule, many opposition leaders and laborers have perished. Ilias Ali and Chowdhury Alam are among the numerous individuals who have been compelled to forcibly vanish."

Later, Rizvi handed pamphlets to local rickshaw pullers, store owners, transit workers, and pedestrians in the neighborhood alongside a few other party officials and volunteers.

'Save the country, save the people' was the leaflet that called for the cancellation of the one-sided by-election on January 7, the resignation of the Sheikh Hasina government, the creation of an unbiased election commission under a caretaker government, and the release of BNP leaders and activists who were detained, including its chairperson, Begum Khaleda Zia.

BNP leaders and workers distributed pamphlets in every major city on Tuesday as part of the party's nationwide campaign to put pressure on the government to lower the cost of necessities.

The BNP on Sunday declared a new six-day campaign that will start on Tuesday and include widespread leafleting and mass interaction.
