Patuakhali, Oct 16 (V7N) — Rashiduzzaman Morol, the former Member of Parliament (MP) from Khulna-6 Constituency, was arrested early Wednesday morning in a joint operation conducted by RAB-6 and RAB-8 in the Mahipur area of Patuakhali.

Lt. Col. Munim Ferdous, Director of RAB’s Legal and Media Wing, confirmed the arrest and stated that Rashiduzzaman faces charges in three cases related to violence and explosives. “Further legal procedures are underway,” he added.

Rashiduzzaman Morol had contested and won the 12th National Parliamentary election held on January 7 as the candidate nominated by the Bangladesh Awami League.

However, his political career took a sharp turn after the resignation of then-Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on August 5, amid intense pressure from a student movement. Following her resignation, the President dissolved Parliament on August 6, stripping Rashiduzzaman of his parliamentary position.

Authorities are now moving forward with legal action against the former MP, as investigations continue.
