Dhaka, Oct 25 (V7N) – Gono Odhikar Porishad President Nurul Haque Nur has voiced a strong critique of the interim government, asserting that it should relinquish power within six months if it continues to govern based on what he described as “the words of some student leaders.” Speaking at a prayer gathering and rally in Uttara on Friday afternoon, Nur commemorated those killed and injured in the July student-led revolution.

Nur contended that the interim government has failed to meet the expectations and demands of the public, struggling without the support of a national government. “The focus is not on whether Sheikh Hasina resigns but on the reformation of the state and the transfer of power to political parties through fair elections,” he stated, adding a critical remark about the ruling Awami League party's role in the country’s political landscape.

Nur further called for the resignation of the current president, whom he described as “dangerous for the country,” and demanded immediate financial support for those affected by the July movement, urging Tk 1 crore for the families of martyrs and Tk 50 lakh for those injured, to be delivered within the next month.

In a show of unity, Gono Odhikar Porishad General Secretary Rashed Khan also spoke, demanding accountability for alleged misconduct by law enforcement during the July movement. He declared that if there is no action taken against these incidents, then the Home Affairs Advisor should step down.
