Dhaka, Oct 26 (V7N) – Moin Abdullah, a central member of Krishak League and brother of former Barisal City Corporation Mayor Sadiq Abdullah, was apprehended by Detective Police (DB) from Dhaka’s Gulshan area on Friday at approximately 3:30 pm. Abdullah, who also held the position of director at the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), faces multiple charges, including violations under the Explosives Act in Barisal.

Moin Abdullah’s family has long-standing political connections; his father, Abul Hasanat Abdullah, a former Member of Parliament for Barisal-1, is the cousin of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Recently, authorities froze the bank accounts of Abul Hasanat and seven other family members, impacting both personal and affiliated business accounts.

In the wake of Sheikh Hasina’s government’s fall on August 5, Moin Abdullah made a notable visit to Barisal, accompanied by Muaz Arif, the son of interim government adviser AF Hasan Arif. The visit sparked widespread discussion given Abdullah’s political ties and the current transitional period in government.
