Dhaka, Nov 08 (V7N)- BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman emphasized that a united front of nationalist forces in Bangladesh is vital to resist any conspiracies against the country’s sovereignty and democracy. He made this statement virtually from London as the chief guest at a rally held in Dhaka on the occasion of Revolution and Solidarity Day on Friday afternoon.

From midday, BNP leaders and supporters gathered in Naya Paltan, with processions arriving from different parts of the city. The rally was presided over by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, who described the event as a powerful demonstration of BNP’s political strength in Bangladesh.

In his address, Tarique Rahman stated that the gathering was not intended as a protest but as a march to uphold the nation’s interests and sovereignty. "Today’s rally is a march for sovereignty, democracy, and nation-building, a march to defend the people's rights," he remarked. He asserted that the pro-Bangladesh forces, united under a shared vision, could safeguard the country’s independence and ensure its democratic future.

The BNP acting chairman also highlighted the importance of electing representatives through a fair voting process. He argued that "the people's right to vote directly" is essential to prevent the return of fascism and to end the influence of powerful market syndicates affecting the nation’s low-income citizens.

Rahman cautioned against ongoing threats from "anti-democratic forces," warning that some individuals within the country and abroad may still be working to destabilize the current interim government. He stressed the need for vigilance to prevent any disruption to the government’s ability to serve the people's interests.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir echoed these sentiments, declaring that BNP remains the largest political force in Bangladesh. “November 7 holds immense significance in our political history as the day when Ziaur Rahman triumphed over fascism and safeguarded our independence,” he stated.

The rally was officially inaugurated by Tarique Rahman and led by BNP Publicity Secretary Salauddin Tuku, with several key party leaders, including Standing Committee members Dr. Abdul Moin Khan, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, and Vice Chairman Abdul Awal Mintu, joining the event. The demonstration aimed to reinforce BNP’s vision for a democratic, inclusive, and prosperous Bangladesh.
