Bangladesh opposition party BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir visited a physician at Bangladesh Specialized Hospital (BSH) in Shyamoli on Saturday due to a precarious health state and a variety of illness-related symptoms.

BNP Vice-Chairman Dr. AZM Zhaid Hossain stated that Professor Shamsul Arefin, a specialist in the hospital's gastrointestinal department, gave him the prescription drugs and advised that he undergo the therapy while residing at his Gulshan home.

"When incarcerated, the BNP Secretary General fell ill. He's dropped over six kilograms of weight and has experienced several symptoms, according to Zahid.

According to him, Fakhrul visited the Bangladesh Specialized Hospital, where he was given the appropriate medication and had his health status evaluated by Professor Shamsul Arefin. He is receiving treatment at home and his physical state is presently stable. He needs to go back to the hospital on Thursday of next week for more care.

Before the 12th parliamentary election, Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, members of the Standing Committee, were detained for about three and a half months before being released on bail.

Fakhrul and Khasru were both granted bail earlier on Wednesday by a Dhaka court about a charge brought about the destruction of the chief justice's mansion on October 28, last year, during a BNP demonstration.

Police accused 59 BNP leaders and activists, including Fakhrul and Khasru, in a complaint that was filed on October 29. Regarding the violence at the event, a total of 11 charges against Fakhrul and 10 against Khasru were filed. On October 29 and November 3, respectively, Fakhrul and Khasru were taken into custody from their homes in Gulshan.
