Rangpur, Jan 17 (V7N) — Gonoodhikar Porishad President Nurul Haque Nur has expressed concern over what he described as the fascist behaviour of leaders and activists of some political parties, which he believes is creating anxiety among the people. He made these remarks during a view-sharing meeting following the inauguration of the party office at Rangpur City Bazaar on Friday afternoon.

Nurul Haque Nur criticised the Awami League, claiming that the people of the country had "built the grave" of the ruling party, which, he argued, had lost the moral right to engage in politics. "The Awami League has no right to participate in the new elections," he stated.

Demanding local elections ahead of the national polls, Nur said, "The controversial local government elections held under the fascist government have left the country without legitimate public representatives. This has paralysed the activities of the local government. Therefore, early local elections are necessary to restore normalcy."

He further emphasised that the ongoing movement was not just about votes and elections but aimed at building a democratic, humane, and people-centred Bangladesh. "State reconstruction, reform, and repair have become inevitable," Nur added, underlining the need for structural changes to fulfil the aspirations of the people.

The meeting was attended by central and local leaders of the Gonoodhikar Porishad, along with supporters and activists.
