Rajshahi, Jan 20, (V7N) - Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has stated that the fight against extortion, bribery, and corruption is not yet over. He made these comments while addressing a worker’s conference of Jamaat-e-Islami at the historic Madrasa Maidan in Rajshahi on Saturday.

He said, “Is there any extortionist, corrupt individual, or bribery still present in Rajshahi after August 5? If so, I urge you to abandon these activities. Allah will relieve you. Our humble request is, if anyone refuses to listen, I want to say that our war is not over. This movement will continue until justice is established. The war of Abu Said Mudd is not finished.”

Dr. Shafiqur Rahman also stated that over the past 15 years, the nation has been protected from the grip of oppression. He added that anyone who opposed injustice was subjected to tyranny and abuse by the government. "Over the past 15 years, the government has unleashed havoc. They have taken away 11 responsible leaders, and not one of them was allowed to stay in the country. They have been imprisoned repeatedly. What did they do wrong? What were their crimes? Many have become martyrs, some lost their limbs, while others have been driven to the brink of death.”

He further criticized the government, saying that during the movement, they had shut down the internet, shot innocent people like animals, and many bodies were dumped, never to be found. He mentioned that even today, in many places, people approach Jamaat members asking for information about missing individuals.

The conference was chaired by Dr. Keramat Ali, the district Amir of Jamaat. Key speakers included Central Nayeb-e-Amir Professor Mujibur Rahman, Assistant Secretary-General Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan, and other prominent leaders from the party.

Local leaders such as Rajshahi City Jamaat’s Nayeb-e-Amir Advocate Abu Mohammad Selim, Rajshahi District Nayeb-e-Amir Maulana Abdul Khaleq, and others also spoke during the event.

The conference began with the recitation of the Quran by Maulana Ariful Islam, and the inaugural speech was delivered by Maulana Mainul Haque, the proud father of Shaheed Sakib Anjum, a martyr of the July Revolution.
