Dhaka, Feb 05 (V7N)— A new political party, spearheaded by the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and the National Citizens Committee, is set to debut in February. The official announcement is expected later this month.
The announcement was made by National Citizens Committee Convener Nasiruddin at a press conference held at Bangla Motor in the capital on Wednesday afternoon. The event marked the launch of a public opinion gathering initiative to shape the party's policies and objectives.
Nasiruddin stated that individuals holding government advisory positions must resign if they wish to join the party.
Addressing the press, Hasnat Abdullah, convener of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, emphasized that while the July Movement had dismantled fascism to some extent, remnants of it still persist. He remarked, "We have not yet achieved complete victory. Existing political parties and structures have failed to meet the expectations of the people."
Abdullah further explained the party’s vision, stating, "Our new party will be built around the aspirations of the people, with a focus on a post-fascist era for Bangladesh. The 24th-century spirit will guide our political approach."
Responding to journalists' questions, he made strong remarks against Sheikh Hasina and the Chhatra League, claiming their political chapter in Bangladesh would end after August 5. He urged the media not to broadcast her speeches, warning that doing so would align them with fascist forces.
Nasiruddin Patwari added, "We will engage directly with the people. Under the slogan ‘New Bangladesh in Your Eyes,’ we have launched an online and offline campaign to shape the party's direction based on public expectations."
With the official launch scheduled for February, the party aims to position itself as a new political force in Bangladesh, promising to address the people's unmet needs and aspirations.
