Dhaka, Feb 07 (V7N) – As the political situation in Bangladesh grows increasingly volatile, Maulana Mamunul Haque, Amir of Bangladesh Khilafat Majlis, has issued a special appeal for peace and restraint. In a statement to the media on Friday afternoon (February 7), Mamunul Haque expressed deep concern over the escalating unrest and warned of potential violence and destructive activities that could derail the current anti-fascist movement.

"A New History of People's Awakening"

Mamunul Haque praised the unprecedented participation of people from all walks of life in the anti-fascist uprising and subsequent struggles against authoritarianism.

“The great awakening of the patriotic young generation against every symbol of fascism has led to the emergence of an unforgettable Bangladesh. We are all waiting to see the Bangladesh that the patriotic people desire—free from fascism.”

However, he warned that anti-national forces are still active and could exploit the current unrest to disrupt the movement’s progress.

Concerns Over Potential Violence

Mamunul Haque highlighted the risk of the movement being infiltrated by groups seeking to incite violence and create an environment of destruction.

“The ongoing movement could be transformed into violence, and widespread destructive activities may follow. In that case, Bangladesh will face severe pressure both at home and abroad.”

He noted that while the patience and tolerance of the Bangladeshi people have been commendable, anti-national forces may still attempt to create chaos.

“They may have been disappointed by the resilience of the people, but they have not given up. There is a strong fear that a violent environment could be manufactured by infiltrating the movement.”

Appeal to Scholars and Citizens for Non-Violence

Mamunul Haque called on the country's scholars, Islam-loving citizens, and all patriotic people to resist any attempts at violence.

“I appeal to all scholars, Islamic-loving people, and patriotic citizens: Do not allow violence to occur under any circumstances. The security of people's lives and property must be preserved. Any violence will only harm the revolution and damage the future of Bangladesh.”

He stressed that violence would undermine the movement’s legitimacy and threaten the prospects of building a better Bangladesh.

No Additional Protests Announced by Responsible Groups

Mamunul Haque clarified that no responsible groups have announced any additional protests or showdowns, especially centered around the holy Friday. He stated that Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh, Bangladesh Khilafat Majlis, and other responsible organizations do not support the ongoing violent movements.

“No responsible group has called for extra protests or confrontations. Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh, Bangladesh Khilafat Majlis, and other groups do not endorse the violent activities taking place.”

Call for National Unity and Responsibility

In his closing remarks, Mamunul Haque urged all aggrieved and patriotic citizens to maintain peace and order for the greater good of the nation.

“I call on all patriotic people to maintain peace and order at any cost. It is our historic responsibility to ensure the safety of lives and property and to uphold law and order.”

Mamunul Haque's statement serves as a reminder that while the fight against authoritarianism continues, peaceful resistance and unity are essential to achieving the vision of a free and just Bangladesh.
