Zainul Abedin Farroque, a member of the BNP Chairperson's Advisory Council, attributed the unusual hike in essential commodity prices to syndicates supported by the Awami League. Speaking at a human chain event organized by Trenomool Nagorik Andolan in front of the Jatiya Press Club to protest the surge in prices, Farroque criticized the AL-backed syndicates for exploiting the masses.

He asserted, "The traders responsible for the price hike are part of the Awami League syndicate. AL leaders are enriching themselves at the expense of the people, depriving them of their rights, including the right to food." Farroque highlighted the soaring prices of essential items, stating that they have surpassed the purchasing power of the people, attributing this situation to the actions of the "illegal" government.

As a former opposition chief whip in parliament, Farroque condemned the government's lack of concern for the people, accusing them of prioritizing money laundering over the welfare of citizens. He criticized the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) for its inaction in investigating instances of corruption, citing an example of a former minister allegedly laundering billions to London without repercussions.

Expressing concern for the upcoming holy month of Ramadan, Farroque warned that if prices continue to rise unchecked, the people will suffer. He held the ruling party responsible for undermining democracy and asserted that the AL came to power with the support of India and without the genuine mandate of the people.
