Dhaka, Mar 07 (V7N) –Chhatra Dal General Secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir has accused the National Citizen Party (NCP) of hijacking the ownership of the mass uprising.

At an emergency press conference on Friday at Nayapaltan, Nasir made the allegation, saying: “The National Citizen Party has monopolized the mass uprising as if they alone own it. There is nothing new in their party, they have copied many things from BNP.”

Criticizing Shibir, he remarked: “We heard the Shibir secretary say in the media that they spend 300,000 taka daily on mass iftar programs. Our question is- where do they get so much money? What is their source of income? We want to ask Shibir through the media- how is a so-called student organization managing a 90-million-taka budget per month?”

Chhatra Dal President Rakibul Islam Rakib also spoke at the press conference, addressing the Wednesday incident involving Sarjis Alam. He said: “An unfortunate and undesirable incident took place between Sarjis Alam, a leader of the National Citizens' Party, and general students of private universities. However, we have observed a deliberate and concerning tendency to falsely implicate Chhatra Dal in any untoward incident that happens anywhere in the country.”

He further demanded that Sarjis Alam retract his statements regarding Chhatra Dal, adding: “Individuals like Sarjis Alam and Hasnat Abdullah intentionally try to drag Chhatra Dal’s name into minor incidents. At the same time, the National Citizens’ Party is being used to rehabilitate former Chhatra League members.”

On Wednesday, Sarjis Alam visited the Bashundhara area to meet with private university students. A commotion erupted around him, and he later claimed that Chhatra Dal activists attacked him.
