DHAKA, April 4, (V7N) – BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today expressed optimism following the sideline meeting between Bangladesh Chief Adviser Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the BIMSTEC Summit in Bangkok, calling it a "ray of hope" for the nation.

“It’s a matter of great joy that the sideline meeting took place during the BIMSTEC Summit. In the context of geopolitics and regional relations, this meeting has created a ray of hope for us,” Fakhrul told reporters at a media briefing at BNP Chairperson’s office in Gulshan.

He further said, “A possibility has been created to ease or resolve the bitterness that had developed between India and Bangladesh. I believe both sides are showing sincerity, and this will undoubtedly benefit the people of both countries.”

Earlier, Fakhrul exchanged Eid greetings with sportspersons and officials at the Chairperson’s office premises.

Prominent sports personalities including Mahbubul Anam, Rafiqul Islam Babu, Rumman Bin Wali Sabbir, Niyamur Rashid Rahul, Md. Ashraful, Habibul Bashar Sumon, Riaz Ahmed, and others attended the event.

Also present were Dhaka City North BNP Convener and former national football captain Aminul Haque, and BNP Joint Organizing Secretary Shariful Alam.
