Dhaka, Apr 14 (V7N) – On the eve of Pahela Boishakh 1432, BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman and Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir extended heartfelt greetings to the people of Bangladesh, calling for cultural unity, democratic renewal, and reflection.

In a statement to the media, Tarique Rahman emphasized the historical and cultural significance of Pahela Boishakh, calling it a "bright element in the identity of the nation." He noted how the festival symbolizes the deep bond between nature and life and inspires hope and progress each year.

He stressed the need for a pluralistic and democratic framework rooted in Bangladesh’s cultural heritage and warned against foreign cultural domination, urging constant vigilance to protect the nation’s language and identity.

Reflecting on global unrest and the trials of the past year, Tarique said, “We must leave behind the fatigue, disappointment, and sadness of 1431 and move forward with new enthusiasm.” He concluded by wishing peace, justice, and harmony for all.

Mirza Fakhrul, in a separate message, called Pahela Boishakh a festival of unity and solidarity, and described it as a “bright and joyful” expression of Bangladeshi identity. He expressed hope that the spirit of the New Year would help overcome past divisions and drive efforts toward building a peaceful, prosperous, and inclusive nation.

Fakhrul stated, “The new year urges us toward ideal life, education, and advanced culture. May it bring healing, harmony, and an end to all forms of isolation and division.”

Both leaders highlighted the inclusive nature of the New Year celebration, which cuts across communities, classes, and religions, and underscored the importance of national solidarity in the face of both domestic and global challenges.
