Bagerhat, JUNE 03 (V7N) – Marking the 44th martyrdom anniversary of BNP founder and former President Bir Uttam Ziaur Rahman, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) in Morelganj Upazila and Municipality, Bagerhat, held a discussion meeting and prayer program on Monday around noon. The event saw virtual participation from BNP's Education Affairs Secretary and Open University VC, Dr. A.B. M. Obaidul Islam, who delivered the chief guest's address.

The meeting, held at Mim Community Center and chaired by Upazila BNP Joint Convener Professor Abdul Awal, featured Dr. Kazi Moniruzzaman Monir, senior joint convener of the Tanti Dal Central Committee and a party nomination aspirant for the Bagerhat-4 (Morelganj-Sharankhola) constituency, as the main speaker. Dr. Monir stressed the imperative to "stop the corruption in politics," asserting that "BNP is a party of the masses, there can be no place for terrorism, extortionists, and usurpers." He highlighted the emergence of a "new Ershad Shikder" in Morelganj-Sharankhola, urging party leaders and activists to unite and resist such "terrorist" activities. He concluded by emphasizing the need to "take the future Bangladesh forward" under the leadership of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman.

Special guests at the meeting included District BNP leader Md. Monirul Haque Faraji, Principal Md. Jahangir Al Azad, freedom fighter Ruhul Amin Fakir, Adv. Mehedi Hasan Iyad, and Md. Gias Uddin Talukder. Also addressing the gathering were Upazila Jubo Dal member secretary BM Rezaul Karim Sohag, Municipal Jubo Dal president Mizanur Rahman Palash, Chhatra Dal leaders Md. Abu Saleh and Mehedi Hasan Sajal, and Bahrbunia Union BNP former vice president Ahmed Gaus.

Following the prayers and discussion, clothes and food were distributed among members of poor families.
