Dhaka, June 10 (V7N) — The upcoming meeting between Nobel Laureate Dr. Muhammad Yunus and BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman could prove to be a turning point in Bangladesh’s current political landscape, according to BNP leaders.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir expressed the party’s optimism during an Eid greetings exchange with journalists at the party’s political office in Gulshan, Dhaka, on Tuesday (June 10).
“This meeting carries significant importance both nationally and internationally,” said Fakhrul. “The BNP Standing Committee has welcomed the initiative. Many possibilities could emerge from this meeting.”
He further mentioned that the party’s standing committee has already given Tarique Rahman full authority to take decisions on any political matters related to this dialogue.
The anticipated meeting is scheduled to take place on June 13, between 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM London time, where Tarique Rahman is set to meet with Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus in the UK.
Speculation regarding such a meeting has been circulating in political circles ever since Dr. Yunus’s visit to the United Kingdom was announced. Initially, the meeting was not part of the official itinerary of Dr. Yunus’s UK tour, but its confirmation has fueled discussions about potential political realignments.
