Jessore, July 11 (V7N) – Hasnat Abdullah, chief organizer of the National Citizens Party (NCP) in the southern region, warned on Friday that if elections are held without necessary reforms, all the achievements of the interim government will be compromised. He cautioned that the head of the government would have to stand in the dock of history for such failure.

Speaking at a meeting with families of those injured and killed during the July coup in Jessore, Hasnat alleged a planned conspiracy to remove the NCP from the upcoming elections. He stressed that the interim government’s mandate extends beyond just holding elections—it also includes judicial reforms and implementing the July Charter.

Meanwhile, Nasiruddin Patwari, the party’s chief coordinator, emphasized the urgent need to amend the constitution, stating that the current framework failed to prevent indiscriminate firing on students during the crisis.

Following the meeting, NCP leaders and supporters planned a march through Jessore city after Friday prayers. The party’s convener, Nahid Islam, along with other central leaders, was set to participate in a rally at the Eidgah intersection. The procession’s motorcade is scheduled to proceed to Khulna after the rally.
