Tehran, Feb 28 (V7N) – Israel and the United States have reportedly carried out joint airstrikes on multiple strategic sites in Iran, with international media calling the operation a “preemptive strike.”

Following the attacks, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz declared a state of emergency in Israel, and both countries temporarily closed their airspace.

Two explosions were heard in western Tehran, with the state-run Fars News Agency reporting missile strikes on University Street and the Jomhouri area. An Al Jazeera correspondent confirmed the blasts.

The strikes targeted Iran’s intelligence headquarters, Ministry of Defense, Atomic Energy Organization, and a military complex—installations connected to the country’s military and nuclear programs, making the operation strategically significant.

The Times of Israel reported that the US directly participated alongside Israel. US President Donald Trump later confirmed America’s involvement in a video message on Truth Social.

Iranian mobile networks have been disrupted since the attacks, making calls in Tehran difficult. Residents fear the internet may also be shut down.

In response, Iran reportedly fired missiles toward Israel, prompting warning sirens in several areas. The Israeli army urged citizens to follow Home Front Command instructions, warning that its defense system cannot guarantee 100% protection.

Al Jazeera also reported a missile strike on a US naval base in Bahrain, though the attacker remains unconfirmed. Loud explosions were heard in Abu Dhabi and Kuwait, with warning sirens activated in the UAE.

This escalating crisis underscores rising tensions across the Middle East, with military and cyber capabilities being deployed by multiple actors.
