Gopalganj, July 16, (V7N) – Dr. Tasnim Zara, Senior Joint Member Secretary of the National Citizens Party (NCP), has strongly called for an end to regional discrimination in Bangladesh, asserting that Gopalganj is not separate, but the reflection of all of Bangladesh.
In a statement posted on her verified Facebook account on Wednesday (July 16), Dr. Zara said:
“Gopalganj, which lies in the lap of the Madhumati, is the whole of Bangladesh. We do not want to go back to the days when districts were divided politically—Bogra, Comilla—we were deprived.”
She criticized efforts to label the NCP and its members as anti-Liberation War, stating:
“‘71 is ours, and so is 2024. From 1947 to 1971 and now in 2024, the people of this town have always stood against injustice. Our fight against inequality will continue.”
Rejecting any form of dynastic politics, she firmly declared:
“Bangladesh cannot be bought by any individual or family. This country belongs to all. Those who stand in the way of national reforms will be remembered by the people.”
She also reaffirmed the NCP’s commitment to inclusion and equality, saying:
“Our July program to build a new Bangladesh does not exclude Gopalganj. Our fight is to ensure that no child from here or anywhere else is discriminated against. Together, we will build a new Bangladesh.”
Dr. Tasnim Zara concluded her message with a call for unity and perseverance:
“The journey is long. The challenges are many. But when people awaken, history changes.”
Her statement comes as the country observes 'July Martyrs’ Day', with political and civic leaders emphasizing reform, inclusivity, and the legacy of the anti-discrimination mass uprising.
