Dhaka, Dec 05 (V7N) – Zubaida Rahman, daughter-in-law of BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman, has departed for Dhaka to accompany BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia on her medical trip to London.
According to Atikur Rahman Rumon, a member of BNP’s media cell, Zubaida Rahman left London for Dhaka on Thursday around 6:00 pm local time (12:00 am Bangladesh time) aboard Biman Bangladesh Airlines Flight BG-302.
Rumon added that Zubaida is expected to return to Dhaka’s Shahjalal International Airport by Friday morning at 9:30 am. She will proceed to Evercare Hospital, where arrangements have been made for Chairperson Khaleda Zia to be flown to London on a special air ambulance sent by the Emir of Qatar.
Zubaida Rahman, along with Khaleda Zia’s granddaughter Jaima Rahman, saw her off at London’s Heathrow Airport.
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s personal physician, Professor AZM Zahid Hossain, said late Thursday night that she remains under close observation in the hospital’s Critical Care Unit and requested prayers from the public for her recovery.
Earlier in the day, Professor Zahid had confirmed at a press briefing that, following medical board recommendations, Khaleda Zia would be transferred to London via the Qatar-provided air ambulance for advanced treatment.
This marks a continuation of her medical trips abroad; on January 7 of this year, Khaleda Zia was flown to London in a special air ambulance provided by Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, where she received treatment at a London clinic. She returned to Bangladesh on May 5 after four months, accompanied by Zubaida Rahman.
