Dhaka, Dec 08 (V7N) – BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed has said that politics based on so-called religious slogans without any concrete policy or ideals only misleads people, while the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has a detailed and realistic plan for the socio-economic development of the country.
He made the remarks at a discussion titled “BNP’s Plan for Building the Country” held at the Krishibid Institute auditorium in Khamarbari, Dhaka, on Monday morning.
Salahuddin Ahmed said BNP does not believe in “selling tablets in the name of religion” to deceive people. “We want to clearly explain to the people what kind of plans are genuinely needed for their welfare. Those plans must be communicated in simple and understandable language,” he said.
Using a sharp metaphor, he said, “Those who want to go to heaven without hard work should first know which bus station they have to go to. The people understand this very well.” He added that running a state without prior planning only leads to failure.
He further claimed that political parties without principles, policies or long-term plans—who merely try to mislead people under religious pretenses—have already been exposed before the public.
Speaking at the same event, BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi alleged that Jamaat is misleading people by engaging in political business under the guise of religion.
Monday marked the second day of BNP’s seven-day nationwide program titled “BNP’s Plan to Build the Country.” Party leaders said the initiative aims to gather public opinion on the future direction of Bangladesh, which will be reflected in BNP’s upcoming election manifesto.
BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman is scheduled to join the closing session of the program virtually as the chief guest. The seven-day event, which began on Sunday, will conclude on December 13.
