Dhaka, Dec 12 (V7N) — Inqilab Mancha spokesperson and independent Dhaka-8 MP candidate Osman Hadi has been shot in the capital’s Paltan area on Friday. He was immediately taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for treatment.
Reacting to the incident, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir expressed strong condemnation through a post on his verified Facebook page.
He wrote, “There is no place for political violence in democracy — not at any time. Whatever our ideology, anyone who resorts to fear or force must be collectively rejected.”
Mirza Fakhrul said that initial reports indicate Osman Hadi sustained bullet injuries and has been admitted to the hospital. “I wish him a speedy recovery. I hope the interim government and the concerned authorities will take firm action,” he added.
Earlier, DUCSU VP Sadiq Kayem also reacted to the shooting. In a public statement, he said, “Osman Hadi has been shot. Our uprising will begin soon to free Dhaka city from extortionists and gangsters. I call upon the students and people of the capital to be prepared.”
The shooting has sparked widespread condemnation, and concerns have been raised about the security of political candidates ahead of the upcoming 13th National Parliament election.
