Dhaka, Dec 13 (V7N) – Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Vice-Chairman Tarique Rahman is scheduled to return to the country on Thursday, December 25, ending years of political uncertainty and anticipation for the party’s leadership. The announcement came following an urgent meeting of the BNP Standing Committee at the party chairman’s office in Gulshan. Tarique Rahman joined the meeting virtually.

The meeting, which began around 9:30 p.m. on Friday, was attended by key party leaders including Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas. BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir confirmed the news to the media after the session.

The announcement marks a significant moment in Bangladesh’s political landscape, as Tarique Rahman has been living abroad for years, leading the opposition from outside the country. His return is expected to energize the party’s grassroots and reinvigorate its organizational activities ahead of upcoming political developments.

Observers say his homecoming could reshape BNP’s strategy and influence the broader political discourse, offering a fresh impetus for the party after years of anticipation and deferred leadership participation.
