Pabna, Dec 24 (V7N) — Professor Abu Taleb Mondal, the district Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami and party-nominated candidate, collected his nomination form on Tuesday (December 23) from Ishwardi Upazila Executive Officer Arifur Rahman and Upazila Election Officer Shamsunnahar Bhuiya.
Present at the occasion were Bogura regional team member Professor Nazrul Islam, Pabna district Naib Amir Maulana Zahurul Islam, district secretary Maulana Abdul Gaffar Khan, assistant secretaries Abu Saleh Md. Abdullah and S. M. Sohel, district working committee member Maulana Golam Rabbani Khan Zubair, Ishwardi Upazila Amir Dr. Nuruzzaman Pramanik, Atgharia Upazila Amir Maulana Nakibullah, and Ishwardi municipal Amir Maulana Golam Azam Khan, among others.
After collecting the nomination, Professor Mondal stated, “I am participating in the election to establish politics based on Islamic ideals for the welfare of the nation. Jamaat-e-Islami has always played a leading role in protecting citizens’ fundamental rights, promoting justice, and ensuring good governance. With the support and affection of the people of Ishwardi-Atgharia, I will strive to ensure development and serve public interest to the fullest.”
He further emphasized, “If the upcoming election is free and fair, the public will have the opportunity to elect competent and honest leaders. We expect a peaceful and democratic environment. I urge the administration to seize illegal arms before the election and ensure a level playing field for all candidates.”
Meanwhile, on Monday, senior Supreme Court lawyer Jamil Akter Elahi filed his nomination as an independent candidate through BNP leader Shamsuddoha Pippu, Rafiqul Islam Dablus, and other supporters.
Earlier, several followers collected nomination forms on behalf of other prospective Pabna-4 candidates, including BNP district convener Habibur Rahman Habib, former MP and district BNP president Sirajul Islam Sardar, and former district BNP joint secretary Zakaria Pintoo.
Ishwardi Upazila Election Officer Shamsunnahar Bhuiya stated that a total of five nomination forms had been distributed as of Tuesday, December 23. She added, “There is still about a week left to submit nomination forms. We expect more candidates to collect forms. All necessary measures will be taken according to Election Commission guidelines to ensure a free and fair election.”
