PABNA, Jan 18 (V7N) — The chairman of the Election Inquiry and Judicial Committee for Pabna-3, Senior Civil Judge Sanjita Islam, issued a show-cause notice to Hasan Jafir Tuhin on Saturday regarding alleged violations of the election code.
The notice requires Tuhin to appear in person at the office of the Election Inquiry and Judicial Committee on January 20 at 10:30 am and provide a written explanation as to why legal action should not be taken against him for the alleged violations.
The notice states that Tuhin, as a BNP candidate for Pabna-3, has been observed promoting the party symbol “Dhaner Shish” and associated campaign slogans through multiple Facebook accounts, including one under the name “Likhan Sarkar,” using photos and videos. Such actions are considered a breach of Rule 18 of the “Election Code of Conduct for Political Parties and Candidates, 2025,” which prohibits campaigning before the official election period.
The notice emphasizes that election campaigning is not permitted three weeks prior to the parliamentary election and that Tuhin’s activities constitute a clear violation of the election code and are punishable under law.
Repeated attempts to contact Hasan Jafir Tuhin by phone for comments were unsuccessful, as he did not answer calls.
The committee will review Tuhin’s written explanation on January 20 before deciding on further action in accordance with the electoral regulations.
