Dhaka, Jan 24 (V7N) — Campaigning by Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP)-nominated candidates for the upcoming 13th National Parliament election has begun in the capital, with activities observed across various neighborhoods of Dhaka since Thursday (January 24) morning.

During a visit to different areas of the city, it was seen that Aminul Haque, BNP’s candidate for Dhaka-16 constituency, started his third day of campaigning in the Mirpur-12 area. He began the day’s activities from in front of his residence in the morning.

While interacting with voters, Aminul Haque outlined his election pledges, stating that drug abuse and extortion have become serious problems in several parts of the constituency. He vowed that if elected as a Member of Parliament, he would not tolerate extortionists or drug dealers under any circumstances. He also pledged to work toward building a beautiful, peaceful, and humane Bangladesh.

Later, Aminul Haque addressed a public gathering in the Mirpur-6 Officers’ Quarters area. His campaign route included roadshows through Rupnagar T-Block, various roads of Rupnagar, and concluded with a public meeting at E-Block.

Meanwhile, Dhaka-6 constituency BNP candidate Ishraq Hossain, while addressing voters in his area, highlighted several longstanding civic problems, including gas shortages, water scarcity, and waterlogging.

He said that many housewives in the constituency are unable to cook properly due to low gas pressure, describing the area as neglected. Ishraq Hossain assured voters that if elected, he would take maximum possible initiatives to resolve these problems.

He also expressed concern over the law and order situation, alleging that extortion is being carried out through the illegal occupation of establishments, parking spaces, and sidewalks. “If elected, I will take firm action against extortionists,” he said.

Campaigning activities by major political parties are expected to intensify in the coming days as the February 12 national election approaches.
