Dhaka, Feb 01 (V7N) — BNP nominee Mirza Abbas and 11-party Oikya Jote nominee Nasiruddin Patwari campaigned in different areas of the Dhaka-8 constituency on Sunday, highlighting their respective election agendas.
During his campaign in the Khilgaon area, Mirza Abbas criticized political rivals, saying, “The children are talking nonsense, which is actually very annoying. Now they want us to learn from them, but we don’t want that.” He also urged voters to focus on development, adding, “Here is my home, everything is here. Those who do not want to see the development of the people are doing injustice by behaving competitively with me. In the past, the Awami League has destroyed everything from all sides.”
Abbas further commented on rival candidates, stating, “Some candidates only have my name on their lips. They don’t even want votes; they are just spreading nonsense against me.”
Meanwhile, Nasiruddin Patwari addressed the public in other areas of the constituency, emphasizing action against corruption and lawlessness. He said, “When a gangster, extortionist, corrupt, and terrorist person stands in parliament or contests elections using muscle power and black money, we must speak against it first.”
Responding to allegations that his campaign spreads discord, Patwari said, “Many are saying that we are doing politics of discord. But we are not. Let’s talk about the basic problems of the country. Those who have become part of this establishment through rhetoric turn against us, and then they label us as rude and arrogant.”
He also referenced past political struggles, noting, “As Sheikh Hasina told us, when we said that you cannot have a fascist system in Bangladesh, that situation is still ongoing.”
