Dhaka, Feb 01 (V7N) — BNP Standing Committee member Nazrul Islam Khan has challenged the Election Commission’s (EC) claim that over two to three thousand voters have not been transferred to different constituencies. He alleged that the department concerned provided incorrect information to the EC.
Khan made the remarks during a briefing to journalists after a meeting with the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) on Sunday afternoon. He said that a political party is violating all codes of conduct, which not only breaches the law but also offends religious beliefs. “However, the EC is not taking action, resulting in a clear violation of the Representation of the People Order (RPO),” he added.
Regarding the involvement of BNCC students in election duties, Khan stressed that law enforcement agencies should only be deployed for election-related tasks and that only qualified personnel with proper capacity should observe the elections.
He also requested the EC to vacate the polling areas two days prior to the elections and called for the Electoral Inquiry Committee to be made more visible to ensure transparency and fairness.
