In a bid to ensure a fair and competitive electoral process during the upcoming upazila elections, the ruling Awami League has issued instructions to its party lawmakers and independent representatives to refrain from supporting any candidates. The decision, initiated by the Awami League high command, aims to foster an environment free from undue influence in the forthcoming upazila elections scheduled to commence on May 8 across 495 upazila parishads nationwide.Concerns have been raised regarding reports of local lawmakers endorsing specific candidates, prompting the party's leadership to intervene and emphasize the need for an impartial voting atmosphere.Unlike previous elections, the Awami League has opted not to nominate party candidates centrally, allowing party members to contest independently. This approach aims to promote inclusivity and competition within the party ranks.
