According to Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Tahmina Haque, "The bail will be in place until the police turn in their report" on Wednesday, January 17.

Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, a member of the BNP standing committee, and Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir have been granted bail in connection with a sabotage case that was brought before the Paltan police station in the capital.

On October 29, Fakhrul was taken into custody from his Gulshan home by the Police's Detective Branch (DB). In a case pertaining to an attack on the Chief Justice's home during the BNP demonstration in the city's Nayapaltan neighborhood on October 28, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shafi Uddin condemned him to jail.

Early on November 3, Khasru was taken by police from his apartment in Gulshan. In connection with the October 28 murder of police policeman Amirul Islam Parvej, he was remanded on six-day remand.

Prior to this, on December 18, a Dhaka court gave police authorization to question BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Standing Committee Member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury for two days at the jail gate in connection with the sabotage case.

Sub-Inspector Sumit Kumar Saha, the Paltan Model Police Station's Sub-Investigation Officer, filed a plea on December 14 to demonstrate that Fakhrul and Khasru were detained in connection with the crime and were held on 10-day custody.
