From early morning, students, Jamaat-Shibir activists, and other protesters have been gathering at Shahbagh in the capital to prevent alleged sabotage by ousted Awami League leaders and activists around August 15.
Starting at 6 am on Thursday, small groups from various parts of the city have positioned themselves at Shahbagh and nearby footpaths.
On Wednesday, Hasnat Abdullah, a coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, urged students and the public to unite in stopping Awami League members from engaging in terrorism and sabotage during this period.
The Anti-Discrimination Student Movement had previously announced plans to convene at Shahbagh at 10 am on Thursday with a four-point demand.
By 9 am, hundreds of Jamaat-Shibir activists were seen near the flower market, with other groups conducting sporadic marches in front of the museum. These groups continued to march around the Shahbagh intersection, some directing traffic and inspecting vehicles.
