The 'frightened' government is calling upon military and the border guards to be patient even when the people of the country are being killed in violation of sovereignty. “Is the responsibility of the Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB) only to accept the bodies of Bangladeshis?"

The BNP claims that the present "unpopular government's" passive position in reducing tension near the Myanmar border has put Bangladesh's border security, independence, and sovereignty in jeopardy.

With hundreds of citizens of Myanmar awaiting entry into Bangladesh illegally, the party expressed anxiety that the country's border might spiral out of control at any moment in a statement released on Tuesday, which was based on the choices made at the Monday meeting of the BNP standing committee.

It claimed that for over a week, severe fighting, skirmishes, and shooting between the military junta's armed forces and rebel groups within Myanmar have taken a terrible turn near the border between Bandarban's Naikhongchhari Ghumdhum and Tumbru.

According to the party, every day, gunfire, mortar rounds, and detonated rocket launcher shells are traded between rebel groups and Myanmar's military forces, landing within Bangladesh and resulting in casualties, property damage, and fatalities.

"Sheikh Hasina's puppet administration is powerless to act when a foreign nation threatens our independence and sovereignty and when our independence is in jeopardy. This is as a result of their taking hostages at gunpoint to accept the hegemony of others, it noted.
The party said that because of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's foolish judgment and her hunger for power, a huge number of Rohingya people had caused a fresh humanitarian catastrophe by remaining on Bangladeshi land for an extended period.

The government, it claimed, has been exhibiting persistent failure at diplomacy on the Rohingya problem for years. Because of this government's cowardly servile policies, public safety is at risk and national sovereignty is in jeopardy. The Awami puppet regime can only put an end to dissent in the country.”

"For their own protection, the locals are fleeing the border region. It said, "Schools have been closed."

The BNP also expressed regret for the deaths of a Rohingya man and a Bangladeshi lady on Monday after mortar shells fired from Myanmar fell on a kitchen in Jalpaitli village of Ghumdhum union in Naikhongchhari upazila of Bandarban.

Amid violent combat, it alleged more than a hundred personnel of the Border Guard Police (BGP) of Myanmar escaped and found cover in Bangladesh. "Hundreds of Myanmar nationals are crowding the border waiting to cross into Bangladesh—which could turn the border into an uncontrollable one at any moment."

"In this extremely dangerous situation for Bangladesh, the BNP Standing Committee expressed deep concern that the unelected Awami dummy government's empty speech and call for exercising restraint and patience instead of lodging a strong protest and promptly dealing with the situation through effective political initiatives is an expression of knee-jerk foreign policy." Our border security, independence, and sovereignty are threatened by a government that lacks the support of the people, the declaration said.

The party claimed that because the Awami League administration is worthless and unelected, it lacks the guts to address the current crisis near the border.

The party said the 'frightened' government is calling upon military and the border guards to be patient even when the people of the country are being killed in violation of sovereignty. “Is the responsibility of the Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB) only to accept the bodies of Bangladeshis?"

Due to the 'inactive' stance of the Awami League administration, the BNP National Standing Committee also vehemently denounced and criticized the deaths of Bangladeshi citizens as well as incidences of violating national sovereignty during deadly fighting along the border within Myanmar.
