Dhaka, Sep 14 (V7N) – The Gonotantrik Chhatra Shakti committee has been officially dissolved, and all organizational activities have been put on hold.

The decision was announced on the Gonotantrik Chhatra Shakti’s official page on Saturday.

Nahid Islam and Asif Mahmud, both advisers to the interim government, previously led the committee. Nahid served as the central secretary-general, while Asif was the coordinator for the Dhaka University branch.

In a statement, the organization’s convener, Akhtar Hossain, explained, “Since the onset of the anti-discrimination student movement, our leaders and members have engaged with and become part of this movement. Consequently, Gonotantrik Chhatra Shakti has not operated under its own name during this period.”

Akhtar further elaborated, “With two key members now serving as government advisers, discussions regarding the future of student politics on campuses have commenced. Given this context, we decided to dissolve the committees and suspend our activities. I am currently serving as the secretary of the Jatiyo Nagorik Committee.”

He added, “The future direction of the organization will depend on the evolving pattern of student politics, and decisions regarding future responsibilities will be made accordingly.”
