Dhaka, Nov 09 (V7N)- The Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) has announced plans to supply essential items at affordable prices throughout the country during the upcoming Ramadan. TCB spokesperson Humayun Kabir assured at a press conference in Tejgaon, Dhaka, that there would be no shortage of essential goods during the holy month, as comprehensive preparations have been made to ensure a stable supply.

Humayun Kabir confirmed that TCB will distribute five essential products in Dhaka and four outside the capital. Edible oil, lentils, and sugar will continue to be sold year-round via TCB trucks, with chickpeas and dates added for distribution in Dhaka specifically during Ramadan. Outside Dhaka, additional chickpeas will be distributed alongside edible oil, lentils, and sugar.

To enhance transparency, the TCB has finalized tenders and bids for the procurement of these goods, and from January, distribution will take place through family smart cards. Kabir mentioned that the reshuffling of Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and the absence of councilors, due to political transitions, have impacted supervisory activities to some extent. However, efforts are underway to address these challenges.

In addition, Kabir emphasized the need for monitoring dealer activities to prevent irregularities, suggesting an investigation may be launched to ensure fair practices in the distribution of Ramadan essentials.
