Dhaka, Nov 23 (V7N) – Newly appointed Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam has emphasized the need for thorough investigations into cases filed after August 5, ensuring that innocent individuals are not subjected to harassment or undue legal action.

Chairing a virtual meeting at the Police Headquarters on Saturday to review the country’s law and order and security situation, the IGP directed senior police officers to prioritize fairness and professionalism.

Key Instructions
The IGP highlighted that any innocent person wrongly implicated in a case should be safeguarded through appropriate legal measures, including case withdrawal if necessary. He stressed the importance of preventing undue victimization of both civilians and police officers.

The meeting, moderated by DIG (Operations) Mohammad Rezaul Karim, was attended by all Metropolitan Police Commissioners, Range DIGs, District Police Superintendents, and senior officials, including Additional IGPs Mohammad Golam Kibria, Mohammad Akram Hossain, and Abu Nasir Mohammad Khaled.

Boosting Police Morale
To uplift police morale, the IGP instructed Metropolitan Police Commissioners, Range DIGs, and District Police Superintendents to engage in regular consultations with their respective teams. He urged field officers to strengthen public relations by actively listening to citizens' grievances and addressing them legally.

Patience and Vigilance
Referring to the current socio-political climate and public expectations, IGP Baharul Alam advised law enforcement to handle any potential unrest with patience and firmness. He also called for intensified efforts to recover looted weapons to ensure public safety and operational effectiveness.

The new police chief reiterated the importance of a people-centric approach, urging officers to prioritize the concerns of citizens and take decisive legal actions when necessary.
