Dhaka, Jan 05 (V7N) — The Election Commission (EC) has announced plans to update the national voter list by conducting a door-to-door campaign starting January 20, 2025. Field officers have been instructed to work continuously, including on weekends, to ensure the smooth execution of this nationwide initiative.

Senior Assistant Secretary Md. Nasir Uddin Chowdhury issued the instructions on Sunday, detailing the phased process for updating the voter list.

Key Phases of the Voter List Update:

1. January 20 to February 3

Door-to-door collection of voter information, including details of eligible new voters and the removal of deceased individuals from the voter list.

2. February 5 to April 11

Registration at designated centres, including biometric data collection.

Individuals born on or before January 1, 2008, or excluded from previous updates, will be eligible for registration.

3. February 12 to April 12

Processing applications for the transfer of voter areas at Upazila/Thana Election Offices.

Data entry and uploading information regarding deceased voters and new registrations.

4. May 5

The National Identity Registration Division will prepare a draft voter list in PDF format and make it available via the CMS portal.

The voter information collection process will be conducted in phases, focusing on specific upazilas or police stations rather than launching simultaneously across the country.

District Election Officers, in consultation with Regional Election Officers and Upazila/Thana Election Officers, will prepare a comprehensive and realistic schedule based on team availability.

Registration and biometric collection will involve 1–7 teams in each district, depending on resources and requirements.

The EC aims to ensure a comprehensive and accurate voter list through this meticulous process, supporting the upcoming electoral activities.
