On Thursday, Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, the Inspector General of Bangladesh Police (IGP), pledged that narcotics, militancy, and terrorism would have no place on Bangladeshi land.

He said, "Drugs, militancy, and terrorism have no place in the soil of Bangabandhu's 'Sonar Bangla' and Hon'ble Prime Minister's 'Smart Bangladesh'," during his speech as the chief guest last evening at Rajarbag police lines. Police Week 2024 is in its second week.

Additionally, he requested the creation of a police force that would be technology-driven, focused on serving the public, people-oriented, and friendly to women and children.

'Smart Police, Smart Country, Bangladesh is of peace and growth' is the theme for Police Week (2024).
"We want the public to have faith and confidence in the police station. Respectable residents should be able to visit police stations easily and without fear to obtain the essential services, as I have made clear in my directives," Mamun stated.

He said, "I want to see the police station as a place to get justice for common people, working people, innocent, oppressed, poor, and women."

Though the IGP said, "With everyone's collective efforts, we can truly make our country a non-communal, progressive, inclusive, and advanced-prosperous smart Bangladesh in 2041," the required services should be provided to members of all social classes and professions.

Senior police officers were present when Md. Kamrul Ahsan, the Parade Sub-Committee President and Additional IGP, presented the vote of appreciation.

In honor of their gallantry, 488 police officers were given the "Police Force Exemplary Good Service Badge-2023 (IG's Badge)" this year.
