Dhaka, Feb 24 (V7N) – As the law and order situation in Bangladesh, particularly in Dhaka, continues to worsen, various organizations, platforms, and citizens have raised their voices in protest. General students of Dhaka University staged a midnight march on Sunday (February 23), demanding the resignation of the Home Advisor, Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, citing his failure to manage the escalating law and order crisis.

In a briefing at the Home Ministry on Monday afternoon, the Home Advisor responded to the calls for resignation by stating, "Resignation is resignation; many have even attended my funeral." He maintained that the law and order situation is "very good," arguing that no media outlet has ever reported otherwise in the past 53 years. He acknowledged that while minor incidents are occurring, the situation remains satisfactory.

Chowdhury outlined that instructions have been given to law enforcement to enhance security measures. "We will see what happens tonight," he stated, emphasizing that the Devil Hunt Operation will be intensified in response to criminal activities.

During the briefing, the Chief Advisor's Press Secretary, Shafiqul Alam, announced that joint forces will increase patrols in crime-prone areas, establish checkposts, and conduct searches to ensure safety. He reassured citizens that the government is committed to protecting lives and property, stating, "Visible progress will be seen in the law and order situation very soon." Additionally, law enforcement will be equipped with motorcycles to ensure quicker responses to incidents.

The government is facing increasing pressure from the public and civil society to address the alarming crime rates and restore safety across the country.
