Dhaka, Feb 28 (V7N) – The Bangladesh Islamic Foundation has issued a call to all mosques across the country to adopt a unified procedure for the Khatme Tarawih prayers during the holy month of Ramadan.

In a press release issued on Thursday, the Islamic Foundation highlighted the widespread practice of reciting a certain number of Holy Quran chapters during Khatme Tarawih prayers. However, it noted that some mosques follow different practices, which causes inconsistencies for worshippers, particularly those who travel between mosques or work during Ramadan. This, according to the foundation, leads to dissatisfaction and mental stress among the devout worshippers, as they miss the continuity in the recitation of the Quran.

To resolve this, the Islamic Foundation has recommended that mosques follow a specific recitation schedule:

  • First 6 days of Ramadan: Recite 9 paras with one and a half paras each day.
  • Remaining 21 days: Recite 21 paras with one para each day.

This will allow the Quran recitation to be completed by Shab-e-Qadr, the night of the 27th Ramadan, which is believed to hold special significance.

The Islamic Foundation has urged Khatibs, Imams, Mosque Committees, and all concerned parties to ensure that the Quran is completed in this manner and to follow the guidance provided for a harmonious experience for all worshippers.
