Dhaka, Mar 09 (V7N) – Two prisoners of Dhaka Central Jail (Keraniganj), including a former BDR member, have died while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
The deceased are:
- Sheikh Jobayer Hossain (65) – A convicted former BDR member
- Shamsul Alam (44) – A prisoner in a pending case
Inspector Md. Faruk of DMCH Hospital police outpost confirmed the news.
Hospital and prison sources reported that Sheikh Jobayer Hossain was admitted to DMCH around 8:30 pm on March 5 due to illness. He passed away while receiving treatment at 3:30 am on Saturday. Sheikh Jobayer was a resident of Dargaipur village in Asashuni upazila, Satkhira.
Meanwhile, Shamsul Alam, who was detained in a case at Chatkhil Police Station, had been admitted to DMCH on February 4. He died at around 2 pm on Saturday. He was a resident of Ulupara village in Sonaimuri upazila, Noakhali district.
The bodies have been sent to the Dhaka Medical College morgue for autopsy to determine the cause of death.
